                                             – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, March 31: To eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis (elephantiasis) from Maharashtra and across the country, the ‘Triple Drug Therapy’ (IDA)—a combined treatment of Ivermectin, DEC (Diethylcarbamazine), and Albendazole—is being accelerated. The Central Government has set a target to completely eradicate the disease from India by 2027. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the Maharashtra government is actively participating in this mission.

The Chief Minister said that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has initiated effective measures to tackle neglected diseases like filariasis. Maharashtra was the first state in 2017 to request the Centre to prioritize districts in the Vidarbha region for this treatment. As a result, significant relief is being provided to people in tribal and rural areas of Vidarbha. He added that Maharashtra is fully supporting the Prime Minister’s vision of eliminating filariasis from the country.
