Target to Benefit 5.5 Million Citizens in the State
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that under the guidance of the Union Health Ministry, a large-scale ‘Mass Drug Administration’ (MDA) campaign is being implemented in 12 states, including Maharashtra. Preventive medicines are administered annually to eligible citizens to stop the spread of the disease. Notably, in selected districts of Maharashtra, the more effective ‘Triple Drug Therapy’ (IDA) is being used instead of the conventional two-drug regimen, helping achieve faster disease control.
Vidarbha region has a high prevalence of filariasis, and special drives are being conducted in districts such as Gadchiroli, Bhandara, and Chandrapur. The state has set a target to provide treatment benefits to around 5.5 million citizens
