Cancer Hospital Built Through Public-Private Partnership to Become a Milestone in Healthcare

Pune, May 17: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the state-of-the-art cancer hospital established with a sense of social responsibility on land provided by the Pune Municipal Corporation would become a significant and inspiring initiative in the healthcare sector. He expressed confidence that the centre, developed through a public-private partnership model, would emerge as a milestone in healthcare services.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the advanced cancer care centre established jointly by Pune Municipal Corporation and Apulki Healthcare.
Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MP Medha Kulkarni, MLAs Bhimrao Tapkir and Rahul Kul, Deputy Mayor Parashuram Wadekar and Municipal Commissioner Navalkishore Ram were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the incidence of cancer is rising rapidly. He noted that cancer can be completely cured if diagnosed and treated in time. However, delays in treatment often result in prolonged medical care and substantial financial burden on patients. Keeping this in mind, both the Central and State Governments have included cancer treatment under various healthcare schemes to ensure timely treatment for common citizens.
He further stated that a large-scale “Cancer Grid” is being developed across Maharashtra to provide more efficient and accessible treatment services to cancer patients in the state. The grid will play an important role in making healthcare services across Maharashtra more coordinated and effective.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the public-private partnership initiative undertaken jointly by Pune Municipal Corporation and Apulki Foundation.
Office-bearers of the municipal corporation, representatives of the foundation, medical officers and citizens were present at the event.
Earlier, Chief Minister Fadnavis inspected the hospital and reviewed various treatment departments, advanced medical equipment and facilities being provided to patients.
