CM Fadnavis said the new loan waiver scheme has been prepared using data received from nationalised, commercial, private and District Central Cooperative Banks. Under the scheme, 5.6 million farmers will receive benefits amounting to ₹36,585 crore. Unlike the earlier scheme, where farmers with outstanding loans exceeding ₹2 lakh were ineligible, the new scheme will waive loans up to ₹2 lakh, even if the total outstanding amount exceeds that limit.
