₹95,000 Crore Annual Support for Agriculture
Highlighting the government's support to the farm sector, the Chief Minister said Maharashtra spends nearly ₹95,000 crore annually on agriculture. Around ₹25,000 crore is spent every year on farmers' electricity subsidies.
He said the government has procured 13.6 million quintals of cotton, making payments of ₹10,883 crore, while 600,000 tonnes of soybean were procured for ₹3,198 crore. Government intervention in onion procurement has helped stabilise market prices. The pending ₹217 crore subsidy for drip irrigation will be released shortly, while the remaining funds under the Krishi Samruddhi Scheme will be provided through supplementary budgetary demands.
