reduction in carbon emissions achieved through these solar initiatives is equivalent to planting 30 billion trees

Chief Minister Fadnavis further stated that the reduction in carbon emissions achieved through these solar initiatives is equivalent to planting 30 billion trees. By 2032, Maharashtra plans to generate an additional 45 GW of power, of which 70% will be from solar energy. The share of renewable energy, which stood at 13% three to four years ago, will rise to 52% by 2030.

To ensure grid stability, Maharashtra is focusing on battery storage systems and pump storage projects, leveraging the geographical advantages of the Western Ghats. Pump storage projects with a capacity of 80,000 MW have already been initiated and will soon reach 100,000 MW, the Chief Minister added.
