PM Surya Ghar Yojana is being effectively

The Chief Minister noted that the PM Surya Ghar Yojana is being effectively implemented in Maharashtra, which will lead to around 4 GW of rooftop solar capacity. This initiative is not only lighting up homes but also supplying surplus power back to the grid, thereby reducing carbon emissions.

Additionally, Maharashtra has launched the “Magel Tyala Solar Pump” (Solar Pump on Demand) Scheme for new agricultural pump connections. Nearly 60% of all solar pumps installed in India are in Maharashtra, and this number will soon cross one million. Consequently, the state’s multi-year tariff, which was earlier increasing at 9% annually, is now declining. Over the next five years, Maharashtra expects to save USD 10 billion in power procurement costs.
