Citizens must remain alert and act as the eyes and ears of national security: CM Devendra Fadnavis

NIA Chief Dr. Sadanand Date and Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani honoured with the Global Peace Honor

Mumbai, Nov 22 — “The war against terrorism is not over. Every citizen must stay vigilant and alert. Citizens should act as the ears and eyes of national security,” said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while speaking at the Global Peace Honor event organized by Divija Foundation.

At the event, NIA Chief Dr. Sadanand Date, NSG Commando Sunil Jodha, and Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani were felicitated with the Global Peace Honor.

Referring to the 26/11 terror attack, CM Fadnavis said that even after 17 years, the pain of that horrific day remains in the hearts of people. “This program is important to pay tribute to the martyrs and keep their memories alive,” he added.

Condemning the recent killings of innocent civilians in Pahalgam, he noted that such incidents show that the threat of terrorism still persists, and hence every citizen must remain alert.

CM Fadnavis said that the 26/11 attack was not limited to Mumbai or the Taj Hotel alone. Just as the attack on the Twin Towers in the US was an attack on America's sovereignty, the 26/11 attack was a major blow to India’s sovereignty. “Had there been a strong response at that time, such an attack might not have happened again,” he remarked.

He said India has now transformed into a strong, capable, and decisive nation. Through Operation Sindoor, India demonstrated its capability by striking terrorist camps in Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack.

Security agencies have foiled major terror plots, including the seizure of large quantities of explosives and weapons ahead of the Delhi bomb blast attempt.
