About Sindoor Bridge
Located in South Mumbai, the bridge plays a crucial role in connecting the areas around Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Masjid Bunder, and Mohammad Ali Road. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) undertook its reconstruction to maintain the vital east-west connectivity in the Masjid Bunder area. The structure has been built as per plans approved by the Central Railway authorities.
Benefits of the Sindoor Bridge Reconstruction
The bridge is a key link between the port areas near P. D’Mello Road and the commercial zones of Crawford Market, Kalbadevi, and Dhobi Talao in South Mumbai.
It restores crucial east-west traffic flow that had been disrupted for almost a decade. The bridge will help reduce traffic congestion at the intersection of P. D’Mello Road, Walchand Hirachand Road, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Road. It will also streamline traffic on Yusuf Meher Ali Road, Mohammad Ali Road, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Road, and Qazi Syed Street.
