New Scheme to be Launched for Treatment of Sickle Cell, Thalassemia, and Anemia Inauguration of Late Bhanutai Gadkari Memorial Diagnostic Center Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule in Attendance

Nagpur, July 27 – A plan has been put in place to establish a network of healthcare services every three kilometers, especially with regard to primary health facilities. In the coming four years, the best healthcare system in the country will be developed in Maharashtra. Voluntary organizations and citizen participation will be equally crucial in achieving this goal. A new scheme will soon be introduced for the expensive treatment of diseases such as sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, and anemia, announced Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at an event today.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the Late Bhanutai Gadkari Memorial Diagnostic Center, operated by the Late Bhanutai Gadkari Rural Development Institute at Kamal Chowk in Lashkaribagh, Nagpur.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari presided over the event. Maharashtra Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister of the district Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and President of the Rural Development Institute Kanchan Tai Gadkari were present as special guests.

Other dignitaries included MLAs Sandeep Joshi, Praveen Datke, and Ashish Deshmukh; Secretary-General of the Mahabodhi Society, Bengaluru, Bhante Anand Thera; President of the Ramakrishna Math, Nagpur, Raghavendra Swami; former Minister Adv. Sulekha Kumbhare; Rajesh Loya; Managing Director of AMTZ Visakhapatnam Dr. Jitendra Sharma; former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari; former MP Dr. Vikas Mahatme; and former MLAs Girish Vyas and Tekchand Sawarkar, among others.

The Chief Minister further said that in the health sector, service must be accompanied by empathy. "Nitinji has both service and empathy. That's why he envisioned a diagnostic center in his mother's name to serve the poor — and he made that vision a reality," said Fadnavis. He expressed confidence that this center would become a milestone in the healthcare sector.

Fadnavis continued, saying that Nitinji drew inspiration for social work from his mother, Late Bhanutai Gadkari. This has enabled him to carry out large-scale work across the country. The welfare of the last person in society has always been at the core of his efforts. He has consistently worked to bring the neglected into the mainstream of development. His contributions to industry, agriculture, and healthcare are significant, and the establishment of this diagnostic center is part of that journey. It represents a major step in the health services sector, he said.

"While the use of advanced technology in healthcare has increased, the cost of services has also risen. If machines like MRI and CT scanners are made in India, the cost of services will be reduced. To make the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana more effective in the future, the number of hospitals will also need to be increased," Fadnavis said. He emphasized that a spirit of service and empathy is essential when working in the healthcare sector. "In the next four years, the best healthcare system in the country will be built in Maharashtra. A new scheme for the treatment of sickle cell, thalassemia, and anemia will also be implemented," he added.
