Third wave of Corona pandemic – Chief Minister

Nagpur, Aug 20 – Stating that since there was no effective drug available on Corona, vaccination was shield against Corona, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said that taking in to account third wave of Corona pandemic in coming days, it was necessary to undertake vaccination of maximum citizens and we are ready to defeat Corona. Chief Minister Thackeray was speaking at handing over ceremony of 200 Sadbhavana Jeevanrath mobile vaccination vehicles.
The online program held at divisional sports complex at Manakapur was organized by Vidarbha Sahayata Society and MahaGenCo. Chief Minister Thackeray was chief guest of the function.
MSEDCL has given Rs 25 crore to Vidarbha Sahayata Society from its CSR funds for effectively running the vaccination campaign. A total of 200 mobile vaccination vehicles have been provided from this fund to Primary Health Centres in Vidarbha. The vehicles were handed over at the hands of Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat.
Stating that safety of people was accorded highest priority while combating calamities like floods and excessive rains along with Corona, chief minister Thackeray said that more than five crore citizens from the state have been administered first and second dose of vaccine. He said that in a single day more than 9 lakh doses were given and all the citizens in state would be vaccinated as and when maximum doses are made available by the Union Government. He said that these mobile vaccination vehicles would prove helpful for those who can’t reach the vaccination centres for various reasons. He assured every possible help for vaccination and underlined necessity of the vaccination.
Launching the vaccination campaign and handing over the mobile vaccination vehicles Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat said that Sadbhavana Jeevanrath vehicles are playing important role in reaching out to last person in remote areas and priority would be given to complete target of vaccination by reaching out to remote areas like Melghat, Gadchiroli by implementing the message of Sant Gadgebaba Maharaj. He pointed out that it was the first ever initiative by any power department in the country providing 200 mobile vaccination vehicles and this campaign was being launched on birth anniversary of Late Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi which is Sadbhavana din.
During his presidential remarks minister for power Dr Nitin Raut who is also Guardian Minister for Nagpur said that priority was given to provide necessary medical help including Oxygen to health department while combating first and second wave of Corona pandemic. He said that while preparing for third wave vaccination was necessary which is why MahaGenCo has made available Rs 25 crore through its Corporate Social Responsibility funds to Vidarbha Sahayata Samiti which would enable providing 2 vehicles for every Taluka in Nagpur and Amravati division. Power minister asked district collector to appoint control officer for judicious use and maintenance of the vehicles. He also asked divisional commissioner to regularly avail report of the vaccination drive.
Floral tribute was offered to late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to mark his birth anniversary to mark Sadbhavana Din in the beginning. The Sadbhavana Jeevanrat for vaccination were handed over by lighting lamp. Divisional commissioner Prajakta Lavangare-Varma handed over 128 vehicles while Guardian Minister for Amravati Guardian Minister Yashomati Thakur handed over 72 vaccination vehicles.
