Mumbai, May 23 – To commemorate the 300th birth anniversary of Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar, the Maharashtra government is organizing various cultural and social programs across the state. As part of these initiatives, a grand memorial dedicated to Ahilyadevi Holkar is being constructed in Jalna city. Textile Minister Sanjay Savkare has assured full government support for the project, which he said will also help establish Jalna as a prominent cultural and tourist destination.

The memorial is being built near Ambad Chowfuli in Jalna, and Minister Savkare recently visited the site for an inspection. He was accompanied by MLAs Narayan Kuche and Bhaskar Aba Danve, as well as Badrinath Pathade, Bhagwan Mhatre, Memorial Committee President Kapil Dahekar, Secretary Shantilal Bansode, Treasurer Balasaheb Abuj, and members Tukaram Kolhe, S.S. Dahekar, Prof. Ganesh Gunjal, writer Pandit Talegaonkar, and others.

Minister Savkare highlighted that the 24-foot tall statue will be the tallest memorial of Ahilyadevi Holkar in India and will represent Jalna’s rich cultural and historical legacy. A 28-foot-high and 56-foot-wide stone wall, inspired by the historic Maheshwar Fort and Indore Palace, will be constructed as a backdrop to the statue, enhancing its visual and historical appeal. The government, he stated, is committed to supporting this majestic memorial and its beautification.

Kapil Dahekar, President of the Memorial Committee, stated that the monument honors Ahilyadevi Holkar’s legacy and her contributions to social reform. He emphasized that it will enrich Jalna's cultural stature and serve as an inspiration for future generations.
