Maharashtra Governor administers oath of office to 4 members of Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution
· Justice Surendra Tavade and Suvarna Keole appointed as Judicial Members, O P Gupta and Rashmi Shukla also sworn in as Members
Mumbai, August 14 : Justice Surendra Pandharinath Tavade, Retired Judge of the Bombay High Court was today sworn in as a Judicial Member of Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution. Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office to Justice Tavade at a brief oath taking ceremony held at Lok Bhavan Mumbai.
Suvarna Kishore Keole, retired Chief District Judge was also sworn in as a Judicial Member of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution.
Retired Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash Gupta and retired Director General of Police of Maharashtra Rashmi Shukla were also sworn in as Other than Judicial Members of the Maharashtra Lokayukta Institution. The appointments were made by the Governor under the new Lokayukta Act 2023. All the members were appointed for a term of 5 years or until they reach the age of 70, whichever is earlier.
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Lokayukta Justice Vidyasagar Kanade (retd), Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal and senior government officers were present.
Secretary to the Governor Dr. Prashant Narnaware read out the warrants of appointment of the four members of the Lokayukta Institution.
The oath taking ceremony started with the rendition of National Song, National Anthem and Maharashtra Geet and concluded with the National Song and National Anthem.
