Review Meeting of Malvani Area Redevelopment Project
Nagpur, dated 13: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed that a ‘Cluster Model’ should be developed for the redevelopment of slums in the Malvani area. He also instructed that the survey of slums in Ambujwadi, Dadasaheb Gaikwad Nagar, and Rajiv Gandhi Nagar should be completed at the earliest.
Housing State Minister Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar and MLA Aslam Shaikh were present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the remaining survey of slums in the Malvani area should be completed promptly. MHADA and the Slum Rehabilitation Authority should conduct surveys according to their respective jurisdictions. After completion of the entire slum survey in the Malvani area, the agencies should submit a consolidated report. Separate action should be taken for areas facing legal issues. Areas where development work is feasible should be given priority for redevelopment.
Redevelopment through the ‘Cluster Model’ will enable faster redevelopment of the entire Malvani area within a shorter time. This is a major slum redevelopment project and should be completed expeditiously, the Chief Minister added.
The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Housing) Asim Kumar Gupta, Chief Officer of the Housing and Area Development Board Milind Borikar, Chief Executive Officer of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority Dr. Mahendra Kalyankar, and other officials. Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani participated through video conferencing. The presentation at the meeting was made by MHADA Vice President and Chief Executive Officer Sanjeev Jaiswal.
