Pune–Sainagar Shirdi Express Flagged Off by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
Mumbai, June 17: The newly introduced Pune–Sainagar Shirdi Express was flagged off today by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who joined the event virtually from Mumbai, while Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the service by waving the green flag at Pune Railway Station.
At the programme held at the Chief Minister's official residence 'Varsha', Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Prof. Ram Shinde was present. At Pune Railway Station, Minister for Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MLA Vivek Kolhe, and other dignitaries attended the inaugural ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that several railway infrastructure projects are underway to enhance the capacity of the Pune railway network. These include development works at Hadapsar, Shivajinagar, Khadki, Uruli and Alandi, modernization of Pune Junction, construction of additional platforms, a Mega Coaching Terminal at Akurdi, and the introduction of advanced digital signalling systems. These projects are expected to double Pune's railway handling capacity within the next three to three-and-a-half years, enabling the operation of nearly 20 additional train services.
