Repairs of Ghonga and Kanadi minor irrigation projects in Akola district
Provision of ₹4.76 crore for Ghonga, ₹4.92 crore for Kanadi
Approval was granted in today’s Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for provisions towards repair works of Ghonga and Kanadi minor irrigation projects in Murtizapur taluka of Akola district.
The Ghonga minor irrigation project was completed in 1986. The Kanadi minor irrigation project was completed in 1977. The pitching of these projects has deteriorated, trees and bushes have grown in canals, and service roads are damaged. Hence, special approval was given for repairs.
For Ghonga project, a provision of ₹4.76 crore was sanctioned. These repairs will restore 35 TCM water storage capacity and 45 hectares of irrigation potential. (Original: 1,550 TCM storage, 350 hectares irrigation).
For Kanadi project, a provision of ₹4.92 crore was sanctioned. These repairs will restore 38 TCM water storage capacity and 46 hectares of irrigation potential. (Original: 1,700 TCM storage, 286 hectares irrigation).
