Farewell to Lord Ganesha by the Chief Minister at Girgaon Chowpatty amidst the State Festival Celebrations
Mumbai, Sept 6: The Government of Maharashtra has accorded the status of State Festival to Ganeshotsav, and today the celebrations reached their peak at Girgaon Chowpatty. On this occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis personally attended and bid farewell to Lord Ganesha.
At Girgaon Chowpatty, in the spirit of this State Festival, Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State Yogesh Kadam, MLA Amit Satam, Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Commissioner Amitkumar Saini, along with thousands of devotees, were present. The atmosphere was electrified with the beats of dhol-tasha and the chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya.” The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and several dignitaries showered flowers on the Ganesh idols and bid farewell, in a program organized by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation at Girgaon Chowpatty.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the ten-day Ganeshotsav was celebrated across the state with great enthusiasm and in a peaceful manner. “People celebrated this festival with joy and fervor. During Ganpati Visarjan, there is always a slight sense of sadness, as after ten days Bappa leaves us. But at the same time, there is also the happiness that He will return again next year,” said Mr. Fadnavis.
In Mumbai, Pune, and all towns and villages across the state, Ganeshotsav processions were conducted peacefully and with discipline. “Due to the arrangements made by the Police Department, Municipal Corporations, and the local administration, the festival went off smoothly. Their work deserves appreciation,” Mr. Fadnavis added.
The immersion ceremony at Girgaon Chowpatty witnessed the presence of various dignitaries along with the people of Mumbai. The arrangements for the immersion were carried out with the help of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, police, and volunteers.
