Extension of electricity bill concession for lift irrigation schemes

 for the next two years

Major relief to farmers, extension of electricity tariff concession scheme

Approval was granted in today’s Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to extend the electricity tariff concession scheme for Extra High Voltage (EHV), High Voltage (HV), and Low Voltage (LV) lift irrigation schemes for another two years, i.e., till March 2027.

This will result in significant savings in the expenses of about 1,789 lift irrigation schemes in the state, directly benefitting the farmers associated with them.

Due to this concession scheme, it has become easier for farmers to make water available for crops, which has helped increase agricultural production. This scheme has previously contributed to improving the standard of living of farmers and increasing their agricultural income. Therefore, this welfare scheme has been extended till 31st March 2027.

As per the scheme, the concessional electricity tariff for EHV and HV lift irrigation consumers will remain at ₹1.16 per unit with a fixed charge of ₹25 per KVA per month, while for LV lift irrigation consumers it will remain at ₹1 per unit with a fixed charge of ₹15 per HP per month till 31st March 2027.

To compensate the revenue shortfall to MSEDCL, approval has been granted to provide ₹886.15 crore for FY 2025–26 and ₹872.23 crore for FY 2026–27 from the state government.
