Flood Situation Under Control in Eastern Vidarbha:
SDRF and NDRF Deployed, Citizens Urged to Stay Safe
— CM Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai, July 9: Owing to heavy rainfall, flood-like conditions have developed in parts of Eastern Vidarbha. However, the situation is currently under control, and teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are fully prepared, informed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the Legislative Assembly today.
The issue was raised in the Assembly by MLA Nana Patole.
CM Fadnavis stated that due to the floods, some passengers had been stranded in a state transport (ST) bus. They were safely relocated to a nearby school and later sent home unharmed.
The Gadchiroli-Nagpur (Armori) route remains closed, but traffic is running smoothly through alternate routes. Due to the release of water from Gosikhurd Dam, a high alert has been issued for residents up to Gadchiroli. In low-lying areas of Nagpur city, water has accumulated, and the authorities are fully focused on addressing the situation.
Rescue operations are currently underway. Unfortunately, one person has been reported missing due to being swept away in the floodwaters. SDRF and NDRF teams are on standby at critical points.
An orange alert remains in effect for Nagpur district today. CM Fadnavis appealed to all residents in the affected areas to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines.
