Radio Reviving Lives through Dialogue

 Radio Reviving Lives through Dialogue

                                                   —Adv. Ashish Shelar

Cultural Minister Adv. Shelar stated that radio has long shaped our cultural journey, and the government’s awards recognize those contributions. He noted that earlier, in 1923, Radio Bombay began, and Maharashtra is the first state in India to honor radio professionals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, radio dialogues supported and uplifted lives. Even PM Modi engaged with radio jockeys. Shelar urged using Marathi radio programming to promote Marathi culture within society.

Noted singer Asha Bhosle praised radio, saying, “Without radio, I wouldn’t be here.” At the event, the Asha Radio Jeevan Gaurav Award 2025 was presented to Vishwanath Oak; Best Male Announcer award to Jituraj of Radio Mirchi; Best Female Announcer to Mallisha of Red FM; Best Radio Station to Radio City; and Best Community Radio Station to Vikas Bharti Radio Nandurbar.

Prizes were awarded across 12 categories. Maharashtra currently hosts 16 radio Channels, 58 community radios, and 60 centers.
