Statewide Awareness Campaign to Eradicate Widowhood Rituals

Mumbai, May 22: Awareness initiatives are being implemented under the Mission Vatsalya scheme to eliminate regressive widowhood practices. However, such harmful customs still persist in some areas. Therefore, the use of modern technology and awareness programs at the taluka level is essential to root out these practices, also Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare appealed the citizens to support efforts in putting an end to such social evils.
A meeting regarding the implementation of the state-level resolution to end widowhood rituals was recently held at Mantralaya, where Minister Tatkare addressed the issue. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Dr. Anup Kumar Yadav, Women and Child Development Commissioner Nayana Gunde, Joint Secretary V.R. Thakur, and Joint Commissioner Rahul More.
