Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates 103 Redeveloped Railway Stations Across India, Including 15 in Maharashtra; Parel, Chinchpokli, Matunga, and Wadala Road Stations in Mumbai Included
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to be Re-developed Under Amrit Bharat Scheme – CM Devendra Fadnavis
₹2,800 Crore to Be Allocated for re-development Project
Mumbai, May 22: Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai — also a UNESCO World Heritage site — will undergo a comprehensive redevelopments, announced Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today. A budget of ₹2,800 crore will be made available for this purpose.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 103 redeveloped railway stations across the country today under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Fadnavis participated in the national event virtually from Parel Railway Station in Mumbai. Following the inauguration, CM Fadnavis addressed the media.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Fadnavis highlighted that the Indian Railways is undergoing a transformation through initiatives like Vande Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat trains. Over the past 11 years, India has built a railway network longer than Germany’s under the leadership of PM Modi.
He added that railway stations are being developed on par with modern airports, and facilities typically found in airport terminals will now be available to the common public through Amrit Bharat railway stations.
In Mumbai, suburban stations such as Parel, Chinchpokli, Matunga, and Wadala Road have been completely redeveloped. A total of 15 stations across Maharashtra are included in today’s inauguration. CM Fadnavis also noted that Indian Railways is now being recognized among the world’s most modern railway systems.
