E-inauguration of the Transit Campus Also Conducted

 

Nagpur, May 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the permanent campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) at Chicholi in Kamptee Taluka. The e-inauguration of the university’s temporary transit campus was also carried out during the ceremony.

           Present on the occasion were Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLA Ashish Deshmukh, Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Iqbal Singh Chahal, NFSU Vice-Chancellor Dr. J.M. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, among others.

The event commenced with Amit Shah laying the foundation by ceremonially placing bricks. This was followed by the virtual unveiling of the transit campus.

The National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) is the world’s first and only dedicated forensic science university. The establishment of this new campus in Maharashtra will help create a skilled workforce of forensic experts. The Nagpur campus will be the 11th campus of NFSU. The university already operates in Gujarat, New Delhi, Goa, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Manipur, Pune, and internationally in Uganda.

This initiative will assist law enforcement agencies in preventing, reducing, and solving crimes through the scientific use of forensic sciences. It will also enhance the forensic capabilities of all stakeholders and help address various issues related to law and order, thereby speeding up the justice delivery system.

Starting from the academic year 2025-26, five courses related to forensic science and cyber security will be launched at the Nagpur campus.
