Call for Proposals to Empower Private Sports Academies

under Mission Lakshyavedh

Mumbai, April 4 :To develop modern sports training systems, infrastructure, sports science, sports medicine, organize competitions, provide awards and incentives to athletes, offer career guidance, and enhance players' skills, the "Mission Lakshyavedh" scheme is being implemented. Under this scheme, private sports academies will be provided financial assistance. Interested sports academies should submit their applications by April 21, informed Rashmi Ambedkar, District Sports Officer of Mumbai Suburban.

The government is constantly striving to promote, preserve, and nurture a sports culture in the state and to develop talented athletes. Systematic efforts are being made to help athletes win medals in international events like the Olympics. Under Mission Lakshyavedh, financial support will be provided to private sports academies in Maharashtra that specialize in one of the following 12 disciplines:

Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Hockey, Lawn Tennis, Rowing, Shooting, Sailing, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling.

For the Mumbai Suburban district, the eligible sports are: Boxing, Athletics, Wrestling, Table Tennis, and Shooting.

🏆 Classification & Financial Assistance:

The classification of private academies will be based on a scoring system which evaluates:

  • Number of athletes
  • Coaches and assistant coaches
  • Available training infrastructure and its quality
  • Sports equipment
  • Performance of the academy

Scoring Criteria:

  • Category ‘C’: 35 to 50 points → ₹10 lakh per annum
  • Category ‘B’: 51 to 75 points → ₹20 lakh per annum
  • Category ‘A’: 76 to 100 points → ₹30 lakh per annum

The financial aid can be used for:

  • Building/upgrading sports infrastructure
  • Coaches’ honorarium
  • Equipment and training tools, etc.
