 Social Initiatives of Standard Chartered Bank Benefit More Than 8.3 Lakh Citizens in Maharashtra

Bank’s contribution to the State’s development is significant

Mumbai, 14: The various social initiatives undertaken by Standard Chartered Bank in Maharashtra over the past seven years in the areas of water security, healthcare, employment generation, and building resilience against climate change have directly benefited more than 8.3 lakh citizens across the State. These initiatives have made a significant contribution to the development of Maharashtra, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Chief Minister Fadnavis said that the joint efforts of the State Government and the private sector are ensuring that the benefits of development reach the underprivileged sections of society. The work carried out by Standard Chartered Bank in the fields of water conservation, rural development, women’s empowerment, and healthcare is complementing the State’s development goals. More than 52 per cent of the beneficiaries of the Bank’s various social initiatives are women, with special emphasis on water conservation, healthcare, and livelihood enhancement. These initiatives have been effectively implemented across 30 districts of Maharashtra, including 75 per cent of the State’s aspirational districts.
