AI Should Be Seen as an Opportunity for Skill Enhancement by Journalists
– Principal Secretary and DG Brijesh Singh
Mumbai, March 14 : Even though the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism is increasing rapidly, it is important to remember that AI does not have the ability to understand reality on its own. Since the responsibility of discovering truth and maintaining society’s trust is the core strength of journalism, the role of journalism will become even more important in the age of changing technologies, said Principal Secretary and Director General of Information and Public Relations Brijesh Singh. He also appealed to journalists to view AI not as a threat but as an opportunity to enhance their skills.
He was speaking at the inauguration of “AI Conference 2026” organized at the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh. On this occasion, he elaborated on the changes, opportunities, and challenges that AI is bringing to the field of journalism. The event was attended by Sangh President Sandeep Chavan, Vice Presidents Swati Ghosalkar and Rajendra Hunje, trustees Devdas Matale and Ajay Vaidya, and Secretary Shailendra Shirke along with other members.
