Maharashtra to Emerge as a Global Hub for Legal Education

Mumbai, November 5: The establishment of the Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Project marks a historic milestone in the field of legal education. The commitment shown by the state government toward the promotion of law education is remarkable. The infrastructure and facilities available to the judiciary in Maharashtra are among the best in the country, stated the Chief Justice of India, Bhushan Gavai, while inaugurating the MNLU project.
At this event, Chief Justice Bhushan Gavai was felicitated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The ceremony was also graced by Chief Justice of Bombay High Court and Pro-Chancellor of MNLU Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, Justice Bharati Dangre, Justice Sandeep Marne, Advocate General of Maharashtra Virendra Saraf, Public Works Minister Shivendrasingh Bhosale, Principal Secretary of Law and Judiciary Department Suvarna Kevle, Vice-Chancellor of MNLU Prof. Dilip Uke, along with public representatives, officials, faculty members, and students.
Chief Justice Gavai appreciated the state government for providing a valuable land parcel for the university and expressed confidence that the MNLU project will attain not only national but international standards. Addressing the students, he said, Legal education is not merely a profession but a tool for social transformation. Lawyers are the social engineers who bring social and economic justice to life.
