Chief Minister’s Presence at Raksha Bandhan Celebration at Mahakavi Kalidas Natyagruha
‘Self-Help Group Malls’ in 10 Districts to Empower Women through Self-Help Groups
– Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis
Mumbai, 9th – Women’s empowerment is the backbone of any nation’s development. Only when women in society join the mainstream will the nation’s progress accelerate. Making women an important part of the economy strengthens the country’s economy. Without 50% participation of women, comprehensive national development is impossible. With this in mind, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told that ‘Self-Help Group Malls’ will be set up in 10 districts to empower women through self-help groups.
The Chief Minister was participating in the Raksha Bandhan festival organized at Mahakavi Kalidas Natyagruha in Mulund. The event was attended by Minister for Cultural Affairs Ashish Shelar, MLA Mihir Kotecha, along with local representatives and various dignitaries.
Explaining the significance of the Raksha Bandhan festival in Hindu tradition, the Chief Minister said, this is not just a thread (Rakhi) but a bond of love, symbolizing the sister’s affection for her brother. In return, the brother takes an oath to protect his sister. However, now is the time for brothers to take a new pledge — to make their sisters so capable that they can protect not only themselves but also their families. He emphasized that both the Central and State Governments are working through various schemes for the social and economic empowerment of women.
