Rising Temperatures Till June 14; Scattered Rainfall Only in Some Areas

Farmers Advised Not to Rush Sowing

Mumbai, June 9:
The progress of the monsoon in Maharashtra has remained stalled for nearly the last two weeks and is expected to stay delayed at least until June 15. Due to this, temperatures are likely to rise across most parts of the state, excluding the western coastal region, until June 14.

The maximum temperatures in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Khandesh regions are predicted to remain high. In particular, Eastern Vidarbha may experience temperatures reaching up to 45°C, while many areas in Vidarbha are expected to see maximum temperatures above 40°C. Similarly, in Marathwada and Khandesh, maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 40°C.

No widespread monsoon rainfall is expected across the state till June 14. Rainfall will mostly be scattered and limited to certain areas, mainly post-noon thunderstorms. During the early part of this week, Southern Marathwada and South-Central Maharashtra may experience more such activity. In comparison, rainfall in other parts of the state is expected to be isolated and scattered.

Given the expected rise in maximum temperatures and the absence of widespread monsoon rains, the Agriculture Department has appealed to farmers—especially those in rainfed areas—not to rush into sowing or plantation activities.
