 Ashram School Issues to Be Resolved on Priority – Minister Atul Save

 

Mumbai, May 8: Continuous efforts are being made to nurture quality students through ashram schools. Therefore, issues faced by residential ashram schools for the Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribes (VJNT) category, operated by the Department of Other Backward Bahujan Welfare, will be addressed on a priority basis, said Minister for Other Backward Bahujan Welfare, Atul Save.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister Save at Mantralaya to discuss the challenges faced by private, aided residential ashram schools for the VJNT category, run by voluntary organizations. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of the Department, Vinita Ved Singhal, senior officials from the department, and heads of the concerned ashram schools.

Minister Save stated that the pending grants for ashram schools will be disbursed in phases soon. A meeting will be held with the Education Department regarding the sanction of teaching posts. Proposals should be prepared for post approvals and salary grants, and the list of vacancies should be compiled only after the post approval process is complete. He assured appropriate action would be taken to resolve the problems raised by school administrators. He also directed that a proposal be prepared to include these schools under the government’s CM Shree Scheme and instructed that Ayushman Bharat cards be issued to all ashram school students. Additionally, he emphasized organizing sports competitions for students at the state, divisional, and district levels.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included the appointment of female superintendents in ashram schools, recruitment to vacant posts, utilization of solar energy, inclusion under the CM Shree Scheme, organization of sports events, and preparation of an Ashram School Code.
