Mumbai, March 19 – The sewerage project in Akola city will be initiated under the AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme of the Central Government. The underground sewer line work will be carried out first on 96 roads that have received approval but were previously stalled. The roads affected by the sewerage work will be fully restored, said Minister Uday Samant while responding to a call-attention motion in the Legislative Assembly today.
The issue regarding Akola's sewerage project was raised by Member Sajid Pathan through a call-attention motion. Member Arjun Khotkar also participated in the discussion.
Providing further details, Minister Samant stated that a detailed project report (DPR) of ₹83 crore has been prepared for repairing the roads affected by the sewerage work. The municipal corporation will be instructed to complete these roadworks. Funds will not be insufficient for projects that have already undergone the tender process. Apart from the sewerage-related projects, other roadworks with approved funding will also be initiated in the city.
