MAHA Support To Be Deployed Through Science, Technology Initiatives To Benefit Farmers

Science and Innovation Centres to be set up every district, Thane Science Centre inaugurated

Mumbai, June 20, 2023: Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri. Eknath Shinde said here today that several initiatives through science and technology activities will be implemented in a manner that will benefit farmers while all-out state government support will back up these moves.
Senior scientist and the Chairman of the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, Dr. Anil Kakodkar made a presentation regarding the functioning of the commission along with innovative action programs for socio-economic development through science and technology. The function was held at the Sahyadri State Guest House here today.
Shri. Shinde said that a decision was taken to start a Science and Innovation Centre in each district of Maharashtra, to speed up the ongoing project at the Lonar crater site (in Buldhana district) on behalf of the Department of Science and Technology of the Central Government and MTDC, to start a Science Centre in Thane.
Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Department, Dr. Nitin Karir, Principal Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Department Vikas Chandra Rastogi, Principal Secretary Parag Jain- Nainutiya, Development Commissioner of Industries Department Dipendra Singh Kushwaha, Member Secretary of the Commission Dr. N. G. Shah was present. Amravati Divisional Commissioner, Collector Buldhana participated through online interaction.
Chief Minister Shri. Shinde said, “Herbs are abundantly available in our forests and surrounding environment. Farmers are also well aware of them. By adding value to all these natural resources, farmers should gain benefit from it. The technology has to be made available for the perishable goods of the farmers for a longer shelf life. We will develop 18 nodes i.e. Navanagars along the Samriddhi Highway corridor. There will be massive development here in terms of infrastructure projects."
Exhaustive discussions were held at today’s meeting where it was resolved to include secretaries of higher and technical education and industries department as members of the commission. It was also decided to integrate the Commission's biomedical device manufacturing activities and various projects, Biomedical Park, Maharashtra Gene Fund, MSME Internship for Engineering Students with various schemes and policies of the state government.
The function also witnessed discussion regarding programs being implemented by the Commission for important products including Kolhapuri jaggery, turmeric and bamboo in the state.

Memorial for Indian Revolutionaries, Chapekar Brothers at Pimpri Chinchwad. Rs 41 crores allocated : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde
Mumbai June 20, 2023: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that a fund of Rs 41 crore will be made available to complete the memorial for the revolutionary freedom fighters popularly known as the Chapekar brothers being constructed at Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune.
A meeting was organized to review the work on the memorial at the Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai here today. The Chief Minister was speaking at that time. MP Srirang Barane, MLA Ashwini Jagtap, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Krantiveer Chapekar Memorial Committee Girish Prabhune and other dignitaries were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Shri. Shinde said, “The necessary funds will be provided by the government to complete the memorial of revolutionary Chapekar brothers as soon as possible. For this, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation should immediately send a proposal to the government.”
At this time Mr. Prabhune made a presentation on the current status of construction work of the memorial. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited to inaugurate the memorial and has already consented to the same, the meeting was informed.
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekharsingh made the presentation on the work of the memorial.
