 ST Employees to Receive ₹6,000 Diwali Bonus

₹12,500 Diwali Advance and Payment of Pending Salary Hike Difference Also Announced

 

Mumbai, October 13 : Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde today announced a special Diwali gift of ₹6,000 as an ex-gratia grant for 85,000 employees and officers of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Additionally, the government will provide ₹65 crore per month to the corporation to cover the pending wage hike difference, and eligible employees will receive ₹12,500 as a Diwali advance, he said.

 

The announcement was made during a meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House with representatives of all ST employee unions and action committees. The meeting was attended by Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnayak, Principal Secretary to the Deputy CM Navin Sona, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Omprakash Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Sanjay Sethi, MSRTC Managing Director Dr. Madhav Kusekar, Joint Secretary Rajendra Holkar, and representatives of various unions.

 

Speaking at the occasion, Deputy CM Shinde said, Due to excessive rainfall, the farmer’s facing a difficult situation, and the government stands firmly behind our farmers. In the same spirit, we want ST employees to celebrate a joyous Diwali. Hence, this decision has been taken. It is equally important to make the MSRTC financially strong. Various initiatives are underway to increase the corporation’s revenue, including the development of MSRTC-owned land through public-private partnerships.

 

The government has sanctioned ₹51 crore for the ₹6,000 Diwali ex-gratia payment to all employees and officers. The salary hike arrears for 2020–2024 will be disbursed monthly along with regular salaries, for which ₹65 crore has been allocated.

 

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnayak added that employees who wish to take a festival advance will be given ₹12,500 each, as per previous practice. The MSRTC has sought ₹54 crore from the government to facilitate this payment.
