Panaji, Oct 19: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid tribute to former Chief Minister Ravi Naik, recalling the words of Saint Tukaram, He who speaks for the distressed and the suffering is truly great. Fadnavis remarked that Ravi Naik worked tirelessly for the underprivileged and voiceless sections of society, creating a lasting legacy for the Kul and Mundkar communities.
Former Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik passed away on the night of October 14. In his memory, the Government of Goa organized a condolence meeting today at the Kala Academy. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, and several ministers and legislators were present on the occasion.
Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted two key aspects of Ravi Naik’s personality. He said, “His firmness as Home Minister and his sensitivity as Agriculture Minister will always be remembered by the people. The legacy he created will endure for generations. Ravi Naik was an excellent volleyball player, and he carried that sportsmanship into politics. Though he faced both victories and defeats in life, he never abandoned his spirit of fair play. He struggled immensely, yet never harbored hatred toward anyone. He became the voice of the oppressed, marginalized, and underprivileged.”
