Maharashtra to Become a Global Centre for Legal Education

Maharashtra to Become a Global Centre for Legal Education

– Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra is the only state in India to host three National Law Universities. All approvals for the construction of the new, advanced MNLU campus under Mumbai University have been completed. This project will not only serve Maharashtra but will become an international centre for legal education, said Chief Minister Fadnavis.

He further mentioned that an “Edu-City” is being developed in Navi Mumbai, which will host some of the world’s top universities. He emphasized that education is now deeply connected with industry, business, social life, and politics. “Today, human capital is the most valuable capital. Earlier, manpower would move toward capital; now capital moves toward manpower,” said the Chief Minister. “Our goal is to develop the best human resources in Maharashtra.”

Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Justice Shree Chandrashekhar, said that a law university is not merely a centre for imparting education but also a place for creating responsible citizens. “The aim of education is not only to gain knowledge but also to achieve excellence in life and uphold human values. Only a good person can become a good student, teacher, or citizen,” he remarked.

The event began with a welcome address and introduction by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dilip Uke, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Registrar Prakash Chaudhary.
