"National Education Policy is a Historic Step Towards India's Intellectual Renaissance" – Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
Mumbai, June 14 – "Money is not the real capital, people are. Industries go where there is skilled manpower, research, and innovation. Therefore, creating a quality, multi-skilled workforce is essential, making human resource development the true investment," said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the new buildings of Mukesh Patel School of Technology Management and Engineering and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, along with the groundbreaking ceremony of a new educational complex by SVKM (Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal), held at Vile Parle. The event was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Chancellor of NMIMS University Amrishbhai Patel, SVKM Vice President Bhupeshbhai Patel, MLAs Parag Alavani and Amit Satam, former MLA Kripashankar Singh, Bharat Sanghvi, Jayant Gandhi, faculty members, and students.
Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that institutions like NMIMS have carved a unique identity in the country by delivering academic excellence, a transparent admission process, and world-class education. He announced the launch of the "EduCity" project in Navi Mumbai in collaboration with the central government, spread across 250 acres. This initiative will host centers of five leading international universities – the University of Aberdeen, University of York, University of Western Australia, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Istituto Europeo di Design. This will bring global knowledge to India, reduce costs, and eliminate the need for students to go abroad.
“Earlier, education systems were slow and rigid, with curriculum changes taking years. Now, thanks to the NEP (National Education Policy), flexibility and dynamism have been introduced. Maharashtra and Mumbai have become startup hubs of India. The state government has created a fund to support budding entrepreneurs,” Fadnavis added. He also mentioned that a committee has been formed to look into raising the height limit for educational institution buildings, and a decision will be taken soon based on its report. Efforts are also underway to make land available for a world-class stadium for students and youth in the area.
"National Education Policy is a Historic Step for Intellectual Rejuvenation of India" – Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that India’s freedom struggle was not only against British rule but also aimed at restoring Indian values through education. The imposition of the Macaulay system by the British damaged India’s traditional knowledge systems and fostered a mindset of subjugation. He said that the National Education Policy 2020 is a historic step towards the intellectual and psychological rejuvenation of the nation and called for efforts at all levels to ensure its effective implementation. He outlined the historical evolution of India's education system, the need for change, and the way forward.
Pradhan remarked that institutions like Narsee Monjee are not just educational centers but serve as inspirations for building a new India. He emphasized that SVKM should contribute significantly to sectors like commerce, trading, and entrepreneurship, which form the backbone of the Indian economy. Addressing the students, he said, “You are not just learners, but warriors of a new India. Your contribution is vital in building a developed India.”

They interacted with students in the Automation and Manufacturing Labs, learning about new technologies. They also visited the Prof. Y.K. Bhushan Information and Knowledge Resource Center, including the Digital and Finance Labs and the library, where they further engaged with students.
