 Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Reviews State Security and Preparedness

 

Mumbai, May 9: In light of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis conducted a review of the overall security and preparedness in the state, in collaboration with the police and administrative machinery. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was also present during the review.

 

During the review of all aspects, including mock drills and blackout situations, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis provided various directives. Present at the meeting were Principal Secretary Rajesh Kumar, Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla, Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai Bhushan Gagrani, Additional Director General of Police for Civil Security Prabhat Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Home Department Radhika Rastogi, Additional Inspector General of the Intelligence Department Shirish Jain, along with the District Collectors of Mumbai and its suburbs.

 

The following directives were given by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis:

 

Conduct mock drills in every district and set up war rooms at the district level.

 

Cancel the leave of senior officials, particularly in health, disaster management, and other key departments, to ensure readiness.

 

Establish a coordination system with hospitals during blackout situations. To avoid being targeted, keep essential systems running through alternative power sources, use dark curtains or tinted glass to prevent outside light from being visible.

 

Create videos explaining the concept of a blackout and how to respond during such situations, and distribute them to students and citizens to raise awareness.

 

Study the central government's "Union War Book" thoroughly and disseminate the information to all stakeholders.

 

Each district's cyber cell should monitor social media for accounts assisting Pakistan, and take action against those spreading incorrect or harmful information.

 

Emergency funds will be allocated to each district collector immediately for urgent procurement of essential materials.

 

In the MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region), organize a meeting with all municipal corporations and involve housing societies in creating awareness about the "blackout" situation.

 

The police department should maintain heightened vigilance and conduct additional combing operations and patrols, anticipating increased activity from anti-national elements.

 

It is a criminal offense to portray military readiness or share such images on social media, and immediate legal action should be taken.

 

To enhance maritime security, lease fishing trawlers if necessary.

 

Establish systems to provide citizens with accurate and up-to-date information about the situation.

 

Given the possibility of cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure (such as power generation and distribution), a swift cyber audit should be conducted by the cyber department.

 

To improve coordination between the government and security forces, invite the heads of the three branches of the military and the Coast Guard to the next meeting via video conference.

 

The meeting emphasized ensuring robust communication, preparedness, and coordination across various sectors to strengthen the state's security framework.
