Nagpur, Aug 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Nagpur–Pune Vande Bharat Express by flagging it off through video conferencing. The ceremony was organized at Platform No. 8 of the Central Railway Station here, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari as chief guests.

MLAs Mohan Mate, Krishna Khopde, Praveen Datke, Central Railway General Manager Dharmveer Meena, Divisional Railway Manager Vinayak Garg, and other Central Railway officials were also present on the occasion. Through the video conferencing system, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune train today. At the same event, he also inaugurated the Bengaluru–Belagavi and Katra–Amritsar Vande Bharat Express trains.

The Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune Vande Bharat Express will make it possible to cover the distance from Nagpur to Pune in about 12 hours, thus saving considerable travel time compared to earlier. On its journey from Nagpur to Pune, the Ajni–Pune Vande Bharat Express will halt at Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahilyanagar, and Daund stations, before reaching Pune via the Daund chord line.   

On this occasion, the railway station premises were decorated with garlands, festoons, flags, and flowers. The Chief Minister and other officials present extended their best wishes to the passengers. Students, passengers, and citizens attended the program in large numbers.    

The development of railway routes in the country is a gift of modern and fast travel facilities to a developed India. With this Vande Bharat Express, travel to religious places in Western Maharashtra and Vidarbha will now become easier and faster. This facility will also significantly increase opportunities for trade, tourism, and employment for local residents.
